Overview

Google Site Kit allows you to connect your WordPress website directly to Google services, including:

  • Google Analytics
  • Google Search Console
  • Google AdSense (optional)
  • PageSpeed Insights
  • Google Tag Manager (optional)

Using Site Kit provides a simple way to verify your website and view Google data directly inside the WordPress dashboard.

Install Google Site Kit

From the WordPress Dashboard:

Plugins

Add New

Search for:

Google Site Kit

Install and Activate the plugin.

Connect Your Google Account

After activation:

Site Kit

Start Setup

Sign in using the Google account that owns your website.

Grant the requested permissions.

Connect Google Search Console

During setup, Site Kit will verify your website with Google Search Console.

Once connected, Search Console data such as:

  • Search Queries
  • Clicks
  • Impressions
  • Average Position

will become available inside the WordPress dashboard.

Connect Google Analytics

Site Kit will prompt you to connect Google Analytics.

Important:

If your Google account manages multiple businesses, websites, or Analytics Properties, carefully verify each selection before continuing.

Always confirm:

  • Google Account
  • Analytics Account
  • Property
  • Web Data Stream

before completing setup.

Verify the Correct Property

This is one of the most common configuration mistakes.

If multiple Properties exist, Site Kit may display more than one option.

Before clicking Continue, verify that you are selecting:

  • The correct Google Analytics Property
  • The correct Website
  • The correct Web Data Stream

Do not assume the default selection is correct.

Verify the Measurement ID

Each Web Data Stream has its own Measurement ID.

Example:

G-XXXXXXXXXX

Compare the Measurement ID shown in Site Kit with the

Measurement ID found in:

Google Analytics

Admin

Data Collection and Modification

Data Streams

Select your website

Confirm that both Measurement IDs match exactly.

Common Mistakes

Avoid the following:

  • Selecting the wrong Analytics Property.
  • Connecting to an old or unused Data Stream.
  • Assuming the default Property is correct.
  • Forgetting to compare the Measurement ID.
  • Connecting the wrong Google account.

If something appears incorrect, stop and verify your selections before completing the setup.

Verify the Connection

Once connected, visit:

Google Analytics

Realtime

Open your website in another browser or an Incognito window.

If you appear in the Realtime report, the website is successfully communicating with Google Analytics.

Best Practices

  • Keep one Google Analytics Property for each business.
  • Create separate Web Data Streams for different websites or applications.
  • Document every Measurement ID after deployment.
  • Verify the Google account before connecting Site Kit.
  • Compare the Measurement ID before saving any configuration changes.
  • Test the connection using the Realtime report after setup.
