🧬 HOW TO CONNECT GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE (SAFE METHOD)

PURPOSE This guide shows how to connect your website to Google Search Console without breaking email, DNS, or existing services. ⸻

IMPORTANT WARNING When connecting your domain, Google may show a message saying it can: • modify DNS settings • remove Bing Webmaster connection • affect Microsoft 365 (O365 email)

DO NOT click “Connect Automatically”

WHAT YOU NEED • Your domain provider (GoDaddy, etc.) • Access to DNS settings • Google account ⸻

STEP-BY-STEP SETUP 1. Go to Google Search Console Google Search Console ⸻ 2. Add Property Click:

Add Property
Choose:

Domain

"yourdomain.com"

3. Get Verification Code
Google will give you a TXT record like: google-site-verification=xxxxxxxxxxxx

4. Go to Your Domain DNS Settings If using GoDaddy: GoDaddy DNS Management ⸻

5. Add TXT Record Add a new record: • Type: TXT • Name: @ • Value: (paste verification code) • TTL: Default Save the record. ⸻

6. Wait (if needed) DNS updates may take: a few minutes to a few hours ⸻

7. Verify in Google Go back to Search Console and click: Verify SUBMIT YOUR SITEMAP After verification:

Go to: Google Search Console Sitemap Section Submit: https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml

WHY THIS METHOD IS BEST • protects your email (O365) • keeps Bing connected • avoids DNS conflicts • gives full control

WHAT TO AVOID • Do NOT use “Auto Connect” • Do NOT allow Google to modify DNS automatically

• Do NOT remove existing records ⸻
